Meet the Artist

Randy “Rand” Thiel is the artist behind GIG Ink. After 25 years in the world of inertial management, he began tattooing at age 40. With training under mentor Jesse Barksdale and five years of tattoo experience, Thiel brings both technical discipline and artistic flair to every piece he creates.

He works across a broad range of styles, including fine line, American traditional, and lettering. His polka trash designs—blending realism and abstract textures—have a rebellious energy. Thiel is also known for his cover-up work, using layered, creative solutions to reimagine older tattoos with an eye for cohesiveness.

Collaborative Process

Each session begins with a consultation and pre-sketching phase, giving clients the chance to shape their designs and collaborate directly with the artist. Thiel approaches each tattoo with care, aiming to create lasting work that reflects the client’s story, style, and intention.
