As part of St. Augustine's 450th Commemoration, the Ancient City Mosaic project, which invites artists of all ages to submit St. Augustine-inspired artwork, will be hosted by the Red Sable in 2015. The goal of the project is to receive 450 canvases (or more) that will then be displayed in a mosaic-like format, all celebrating the unique beauty and historic significance of the nation's oldest city.

The artwork received will be given to the St. Augustine 450th Commemoration to display as part of the city's signature 450th exhibit, "Tapestry: The Cultural Threads of First America," which will run from April 4 - October 4, 2015.

The whole community is invited to participate in the creation of this exhibit. Registration, which includes a 6" x 8" canvas provided by the Red Sable, is $5. All proceeds benefit the arts in St. Johns County schools.

Anyone interested in submitting artwork should call (904) 707-2861 or visit here for more details. Canvases can be picked up at the Red Sable art supply store at 107 King St.

When? The deadline for submissions is March 4, 2015. The resulting grand mosaic will be featured in the special 450th exhibit, "Tapestry: The Cultural Threads of First America" from April 4 - October 4, 2015.

Where? The Ancient City Mosaic exhibit will be at the Visitors Information Center, which is located at 10 West Castillo Dr.

In addition to the Red Sable and the city's 450th Commemoration, St. Johns Printing and the St. Johns County Education Foundation are sponsoring this project.
