Anna Murray Douglass: Brunch in the Museum

Visitors can tour an exhibit and enjoy a delicious brunch with family and friends.

The Lincolnville Museum, in collaboration with the Women's Exchange of St. Augustine, hosts a brunch and conversation about Anna Marie Douglass, abolishinist and businesswoman and wife of Frederick Douglass, on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Lincolnville Museum the Women's Exchange of St. Augustine are presenting a number of events and exhibits at the museum and at Peña Peck House on St. George Street. to present an exhibition revealing some of the political and social aspects of the Reconstruction Era.

The brunch celebrates the Lincolnville museum's exhibit, "1838-1990: A Brife Exposé of African American History in St. Augustine.  The exhibit includes information from when Florida became a state through the post-reconstruction years, and includes accounts of the visit to the Oldest City by Frederick Douglass and his wife in 1898.

In addition, the exhibit shows examples of African American fashion in the post-reconstruction era and a recreation of Anna Douglass's plum wedding dress will be on display. Guest speakers Lana Turner from the Literary Society and fashion designer Cassandra Bromfield discuss the dress and how is was recreated.

In addition to the exhibition and speakers, a delicious buffet brunch and a cash bar with beer and refreshments will be available.
