The Buffalo Soldiers of Florida Organization will be at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Buffalo Soldiers were members of two Cavalry Regiments and three Infantry Regiments commissioned by Congress in 1866. They rode alongside Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders during the Spanish American War when they stormed San Juan Hill, Cuba in 1898. The Buffalo Soldiers were the first group of black men to serve in the Regular U.S. army. The Buffalo Soldiers of Florida Organization are committed to honoring their legacy.

Men and horses alike bring the story of these brave men to life and will be dressed in period uniforms. The re-enactors will discuss the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, offer cavalry tactics on horseback, and give saber and revolver demonstrations.

Founded in 1992, the Buffalo Soldiers of Florida are a historical re-enactment group committed to honor the story of the first black men to serve in the regular U.S Army.
