On November 21, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., A Classic Theatre presents What the Constitution Means to Me, performed as a staged reading.
Staged Readings
A Classic Theatre presents four staged readings during the 2025/26 season. Each performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1795 Old Moultrie Road in St. Augustine.
Considered by some to be the "purest form of theatre," staged readings don't have sets, props, or light cues, and limited or no costumes. The actors perform using a script, and important stage directions are read to help the audience understand what is happening. The actors rehearse each program, focusing on the script and their delivery to bring the playwright's work to life for the audience.
What the Constitution Means to Me
Written by Heidi Schreck, What the Constitution Means to Me is based on Heidi's experience participating in Constitutional debates as a teenager. In the play, she has brought her teenage self back to life to explore four generations of women and how the Constitution shaped their lives. What the Constitution Means to Me was a hit off-Broadway, and the Broadway production earned two Tony nominations. Critics from the New York Times and the Washington Post praised the author for the play's humor and insights.
Admission: $11.30 per person, including fees online.
