The St. Augustine Art Association hosts the Founder's Day Plein Air Paint Out from Friday, September 5, 2025, to Monday, September 9, 2025, at various locations throughout town.

This free event invites artists to paint en plein air around St. Augustine on Founder's Day weekend. This practice, a French term meaning "in the open air," involves artists painting outdoors directly from the landscape. Artists must be registered and must check in to paint. Spectators can enjoy watching artists for free throughout town during their trip to St. Augustine.

Admission: Free (artists must Register Online by September 4, 2025.)

When: Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where: Variations throughout town. 

About STAAA: St. Augustine Art Association serves as a central hub for art exhibitions, education, and community involvement, committed to fostering artistic excellence and honoring the rich cultural heritage of St. Johns County.

For Artists: Artists must register online. Find more information. 

Painting Locations: Artists may paint anywhere deemed legal by the city of St. Augustine, as detailed here. They may also paint at the following locations: Father Miguel O’Reilly House garden (on select days, sign-up will be required) and on the exterior grounds of the Castillo de San Marcos.
