The National Parks Service offers free admission to the Castillo de San Marcos in honor of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28, 2019. National Public Lands Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of September.

The oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, the Castillo de San Marcos was built to protect and defend Spain's claims in the New World. At 323 years old, it's the oldest structure in the nation's oldest city.

Visitors will find plenty to explore at the fort, from the numerous rooms that once housed soldiers and prisoners of every era to the large interior courtyard and gun deck which offers a great view of the city.

Admission: FREE

When: Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Last entry is at 4:45 p.m.
