Lincolnville Jazz at the Excelsior
Select dates from December 2018 through April 2019 at Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center
The St. Augustine Distillery presents Lincolnville Jazz at the Excelsior, a jazz music series hosted by the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center from December 2018 through April 2019.
Each of the nine performances in the series begin at 7:00 p.m. All but one of the them will be held at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center. The performance on March 15, 2019, will be held at Lewis Auditorium.
The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center was formerly the historic Excelsior High School, the first public high school for African Americans in St. Augustine. Lincolnville Jazz at the Excelsior will feature a number of highly regarded and talented artists, including Jacksonville-native jazz and blues favorites Mama Blue, live jazz fusion band Eric Carter & Company, instrumental group Catch the Groove, vocalist Victoria Horne performing the songs of such jazz greats as Dinah Washington and Lena Horne, and classically trained jazz and soul vocalist Akia Uwanda.
Other performers include vocalist Robert Phillips performing music from the African-American experience, the soul jazz duo Kelle Jolly & The Will Boyd Project, Ron McCurdy with a multimedia concert performance of Langston Hughes’ jazz poem suite entitled “Ask Your Mama: Twelve Moods for Jazz,” and vocalist Clarence Herrington performing a selection of jazz through the ages in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month in April.

Admission: Tickets for each performance at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center are $20.00 if purchased in advance and $25.00 if purchased at the door. Admission for the performance at Lewis Auditorium is $30 in advance, $35 at the door, and $15 for students with identification. A series pass is available for purchase until Dec. 26, 2018, for $180. Tickets for individual performances can be purchased in advance online here or in person at the museum.
When: Nine performances from December 2018 through April 2019: December 28, 2018, January 4, 11, and 18, February 8, March 15, 16, and 29, and April 19, 2019.
Where: All the performances with the exception of the March 15 concert will be held at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center, which is located at 102 Martin Luther King Ave. in Lincolnville, St. Augustine, FL 32084. The March 15 concert will be held at the Lewis Auditorium, located at 14 Granada St. in St. Augustine, FL 32084.
