Navigating Lighthouses by Sail
Visitors can hop aboard the Schooner Freedom for a fun-filled tour with St. Augustine Lighthouse historians! Explore the seas and learn about ancient sailors, lighthouses, and more.
Schooner Freedom and the St. Augustine Lighthouse team up to bring visitors a very unique tour called, "Navigating Lighthouses by Sail." This sailing adventure will take guests along the same routes many of the colonial sailors may have sailed!
Visitors will be allowed to assist in the sailing and help set the sails before taking off! After that, guests can relax and hear from St. Augustine Lighthouse historians about how the waterways of St. Augustine influenced the early explorers and settlers. Lighthouse educators will also share tales of early sailors and fisherman and how they used lighthouses to help guide them. The crew has no direct route, and will follow wherever the wind takes them, making for a fascinating and different journey every time!
This sail is offered only during the spring and summer seasons. Complimentary drinks will be offered including soda, water, beer, and wine. Guests are allowed to bring snacks or a picnic meal along with them. Tickets for this sail also include admission to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum. Navigating Lighthouses by Sail lasts 2 hours.
