Rise in Tribute, Climb in Memory
Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa hosts their 6th annual 9/11 Memorial Tribute Climb on Friday, September 11, 2026, beginning at 7:45 a.m.
The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
In 2005, five firefighters from Colorado gathered at a tall building in Denver and climbed 110 flights of stairs to honor the FDNY firefighters killed during 9/11, 2001. Since then, firefighters all over the country have met at multi-storied buildings in their area, making the 110-story climb in their turnout gear.
The Climb at Hammock Beach
On September 11, twenty-five years after the attack on the United States, Hammock Beach hosts their 6th Memorial Tribute Climb. In 2025, more than 180 firefighters climbed the 10 flights of stairs, eleven times, to represent the 110 flights up the World Trade Center. More than 250 spectators attended the event to honor the heroes lost in 2001. In 2026, they expect more than 200 climbers. Both climbers and spectators must make reservations for this free event.
Please arrive by 7:45 a.m. to check in. Opening ceremonies include the singing of the national anthem and a bagpipe intro by Lieutenant Patrick Juliano, a firefighter from Palm Coast. Sirens at 8:46 a.m. announce the start of the climb.
Each participant is given tokens with the faces of the fallen firefighters and will climb the 10 flights of stairs 11 times, receiving a punch for their badge each time they complete ten flights. After the full 110 ten flights, the hero tokens are placed on an American Flag. A kids' fun zone provides things for them to do, and vendors
Other Activities
Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa provides lunch for the participants who climb. A kids' fun zone provides things for them to do, and vendors on the grounds offer information and products.
