John Alison
A much loved and award-winning guitarist that is greatly missed since his passing.
It is with great sadness that we report that John Alison passed away in March, 2023. Alison played around St. Augustine, bringing together flat picking, jazzy rock, bluegrass and classical. As an award-winning flatpicker, he played with the best, and in addition to his love of playing, Alison taught guitar, mandolin, and bass. Alison was heard at music festivals such as the Florida Folk Festival, the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park as well as Concerts in the Plaza, and every First Friday Art Walk could be heard at the Georgia Nick Gallery on Aviles Street.
