Marcus King

A young artist destined for music with a knack for the guitar.

Marcus King, originally from Greenville, South Carolina, comes from a long line of musicians including his multitalented father, Marvin King — best known in the blues scene. At just four years of age, strumming and practicing the guitar became Marcus's favorite pastime. Growing up in a household where music is an encouraged lifestyle, it's easy to see why he fell in love with this type of storytelling. As he broadened his genres, he began listening to various artists including Aretha Franklin, David Ruffin, and Janis Joplin.

Pokey LaFarge, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and showman released his eighth studio album Rhumba Country in February of 2024. From Illinois, one of Pokey's grandfathers interested him in music and got him a guitar and a banjo. The other was a history buff and taught him about the Civil War and WWII. Somehow, this led to an appreciation for older blues musicians, such as Skip James, and then he heard Bill Monroe.
