What Makes This Drive So Special?

Named in honor of renowned naturalist William Bartram, who explored these very landscapes in the late 18th century and famously documented Florida's natural wonders, this highway celebrates the beauty of our inland waterways and forests. As you meander along C.R. 13, you'll find yourself enjoying a peaceful, often canopied drive, far removed from the hustle and bustle. The route begins in Fruit Cove and gracefully follows the western banks of the St. Johns River, offering frequent glimpses of its expansive waters and the ecosystems it supports. The route ends at the intersection of S.R. 16, just before World Golf Area, which cuts back toward I-95.  Driving the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway is a chance to connect with the inland beauty of Florida and embrace the spirit of exploration Bartram himself cherished.
