
Accord Civil Rights Museum Lecture and Discussion: Deep South Dispatch
(904) 347-1382Authors, journalists, professors, and sisters Anne Rosen M.A., and Claudia Slate, Ph.D, will present a talk and discussion about their father, John Herbers, a journalist and author who was a Civil Rights correspondent for the New York Times in the 1960s. This presentation on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, at the Accord Civil Rights Museum.
On Friday, November 4, the presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the museum will be open for self-guided tours from 5:00 through 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, November 5, the presentation and discussion will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the museum will be open for self-guided tours between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Anne Rosen, M.A., co-authored her father's book, Deep South Dispatch: Memoir of a Civil Rights Journalist. Anne is a award-winning journalist and an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland. Dr. Claudia Slate is a journalist, author, and adjunct professor at Florida Southern College. Both visited their father in St. Augustine in 1964 when he was covering the civil rights protests here that year.
Their talk includes the memories their father shared with them about his experiences and information from his memoir.
Admission: Free. Donations to the museum will be accepted.
When: On Friday, November 4, at 6:00 p.m. The doors open at 5:00 for a view of the museum. Also on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a discussion. The doors of the museum open at 8:30 a.m.
