Dr. Yanela G. McLeod, author, professor, podcaster, and frequent guest, presents and leads a discussion on the topic From these Roots We Thrive: A Multi-Generational Charge to Preserve African American History.  She will present at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, and on Saturday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m. 

Dr. McLeod's speciality is the history of the Black Press, and she has worked to show how sharing stories related to the African American experience can improve race relations. 

Dr. McLeod is a native of the Republic of Panama and grew up in the area of Armstrong, Florida, then located on the edge of St. Augustine. She has a bachelor's in broadcast journalism from FAMU, and a master's in history and Ph.D. in African-American History from Florida State. Her experience in journalism and her expertise in history have allowed her to focus on actual stories of real people in the far and near past, and their impact on those of today.

Admission: Free. Donations to the museum will be accepted.

When: On Friday, October 7, at 6:00 p.m. The doors open at 5:00 for a view of the museum. Also on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a discussion. The doors of the museum open at 8:30 a.m.
