Citrus Harvest Festival 2014 will take place at Washington Oaks Gardens in Palm Coast. This festival will include citrus of all varieties, a tasting, Second Saturday plant sales (including small citrus trees) and a cooking demonstration.

Visitors to the Festival can go on a tour of Washington Oaks Gardens’ citrus grove in the Historical Gardens. Varieties of citrus growing in the garden include oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons and limes. The Citrus Harvest Festival will have the “All About Citrus Garden Tour” of the historic grove at 11 am and again at 2 pm.

Good eats! Cooking demonstration – 12 pm – Ruth Micieli of Simple Gourmet will demonstrate how to cook with citrus. Ruth will prepare various recipes using citrus and a tasting will follow the demonstration. Friends of Washington Oaks will offer home-made baked goods as well at this festival.

Grow a citrus tree! The Flying Dragon Citrus Nursery from Jacksonville will be selling cold-hardy citrus trees in 3-5 gallon containers. Visitors can bring home their own citrus! (Bags of fresh-picked citrus from the Gardens will also be available for $5).
