Conor Oberst comes to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall to perform some new music as well as his bigger hits. He will be joined by special guest, Dawes. Oberst is an outstanding performer and singer/songwriter.

Conor Oberst is an American indie rock singer/songwriter and is best known for his work in Bright Eyes, the indie-rock band he helped found. Oberst got his start in the indie-rock scene after being invited on stage by Ted Stevens, (of the bands Mayday and Cursive), in 1992. Shortly thereafter, he self-released his debut album, Water, on cassette-tape in 1993.

Since the 90's Oberst has performed solo as well as formed various bands with friends, and other indie musicians. Oberst has been in numerous bands, including The Faint, Commander Venus, The Magnetas, Park Ave., Monsters of Folk, Desaparecidos, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, and Bright Eyes (the most popular of the bands). Bright Eyes was originally founded by Oberst as a solo project in the mid 90's. The group fluctuates between members from Omaha's indie music scene, but generally consists of Oberst as a multi-instrumentalist, Mike Mogis as the producer, and Nate Walcott as the trumpet and piano player.

The group received national attention with the release of 2002's album, Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. The work moved Oberst into the national spotlight, and numerous publications named him as a breakthrough indie artist. In 2005 Bright Eyes simultaneously released two new albums: the folk I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and more electronic-pop Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. Time listed I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning as one of the top ten albums of 2005. Oberst has also received acclaim from Rolling Stone magazine; naming him the Best Songwriter of 2008.

Dawes the band consists of brothers, Taylor (guitars and vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums), Wylie Gelber (bass), and Tay Strathairn (keyboards). At the invitation of producer Jonathan Wilson, the band joined a local informal jam session that included Conor Oberst, The Black Crowes's Chris Robinson, and Benmont Tench. The band recorded their debut album, North Hills, in Laurel Canyon in a live setting to analog tape, resulting in a sound that Rolling Stone magazine called "authentically vintage."

Visitors are invited to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall to hear some of indie music's greatest performers  including Conor Oberst and the band Dawes. The combined talent of Oberst and the band Dawes will make for a once-in-a-lifetime show!
