Cracker Day Celebration 2017

  • The St. Johns County Cattlemen's Association will be hosting their 58th Annual Cracker Day Celebration on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds in Elkton.

    Cracker Day celebrates cracker horses, which were brought to the Americas by the Spanish. "Cracker" also refers to a cowboy who uses a whip to round up cattle, which makes a cracking sound when used.

    This family-friendly event includes horse and cattle games, such as the popular barrel roll. There will also be a whip-cracking contest and games for children.

    There will also be plenty of food and drink at the event, including a variety of barbeque meats. Each year there is a special honoree, which is announced at the celebration.

    Parking is available.

    Admission: $5 per car (cash only).

    When: Saturday, October 21, 2017. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Gates open at 6:00 a.m.

    Where: The St. Johns County Fairgrounds is located at 5840 State Road 207 in Elkton, FL 32033.
