Over 400 lighthouses all over the globe participate in International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend, as they communicate over three days via amateur radio.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum will participate in International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend from Friday, August 17, through Sunday, August 19, 2018, along with over 400 lighthouses around the world.

The event is supported by members of the St. Augustine Amateur Radio Society, who will kick off the festivities at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and run continuously until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, with shifts rotating through the entire weekend. A tent will be set up in front of the St. Augustine Lighthouse to serve as headquarters for the event. During regular Lighthouse visiting hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Lighthouse guests are welcome to visit the tent and listen in as members of the St. Augustine Amateur Radio Society communicate with other participants all over the world.

Admission: Regular admission fees apply during this event: $12.95 for adults, $10.95 for seniors 60 and over and for children 12 and under (and over 44" tall). Children under 44" tall are admitted free, but they cannot climb the tower.

When: Beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, and running continuously through Sunday, August 19, 2018. Open to the public only during Lighthouse visiting hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
