The grand opening of the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum's newest exhibit, "Wrecked!," will take place all day on Friday, May 6, 2016, as part of the 2016 Romanza Festivale of the Arts in St. Augustine.

This interactive exhibit focuses on a  shipwreck that occurred on New Year's Eve in 1782, when a ship carrying civilians and soldiers fleeing from Charleston, SC near the end of the American Revolutionary War wrecked while approaching St. Augustine harbor.

Underwater archaeologists uncovered this shipwreck more than 200 years later in the waters off St. Augustine. They brought up cannons, cauldrons, buttons and many other artifacts from the wreck. The exhibit tells the story of the doomed voyage and also invites guests to learn all about the science of underwater archaeology.
