Limelight Theatre: ‘Bus Stop’
Written by William Inge in 1955, "Bus Stop" is a drama, with romantic and comedic elements.
In the middle of snowstorm, a bus is stranded outside of Kansas City. Its passengers — including a stubborn, lovesick cowboy (Bo) and the nightclub singer (Cheri) he hopes to marry — seek shelter and warmth in a roadside diner. The motley crew spends one night together, and a story of bluster, heartache, laughter and love ensues.
A film adaptation of the classic American story reached theaters in 1956 and starred Marilyn Monroe as Cheri and Don Murray as Bo.
