Limelight Theatre: First Date

Limelight Theatre presents First Date, a musical about two 30-something New Yorkers set up on a first date. Written in 2012 by Austin Winsberg, with music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, the musical is a funny and poignant look at dating in the 21st century. The play opens on Thursday, April 18, 2024, and runs Thursday through Sunday for four weeks, closing on Sunday, May 12, 2024. This 90-minute production begins at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays and 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. There will be one "Terrific Tuesday," on April 30.

Friends and family set up Casey and Aaron on a blind date, which takes place in a restaurant. Their personal baggage and their friends and family join them in their imaginations, alternatively warning and encouraging them. The audience "sees and hears" these thoughts via the other patrons in the restaurant. The play moves along at a brisk clip with the contemporary rock score, fast dialogue, and charming antics of Casey, Aaron, a helpful waiter, and all those imagined advisors.

Admission: On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, tickets are $32.50 for all patrons. Tickets are $22.50 on Preview Night, Thursday, April 18, and Terrific Tuesday, April 30. Student "Rush Tickets" are $10.00, when available, 30 minutes before the curtain. Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. It is possible to purchase tickets online.

When: Thursday, April 18, through Sunday, May 12. Sunday shows are matinees and start at 2:00 p.m. The performances on all other days start at 7:30 p.m.
