The EMMA Concert Series proudly presents the Moscow City Ballet in a performance of Don Quixote on March 7, 2015, at the Lewis Auditorium. The ballet is based on the famous Spanish novel by Cervantes, and it is being performed in St. Augustine as part of the City's 450th Commemoration in 2015.

Russian choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov founded The Moscow City Ballet in 1988, and it has since attained world renown for its excellent corps de ballet and classical tradition, as well as for the pieces it performs.

The ballet Don Quixote was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to music of Ludwig Minkus in 1869. Modern productions of the ballet are variations on Alexander Gorsky's stage adaptation that was first produced in 1900.

The ballet's story, based on Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha, follows the adventures of Alonso Quixano (aka Don Quixote), a Spanish nobleman who sets out to bring back the age of chivalry with the help of Sancho Panza, his faithful servant.

This performance is presented by EMMA Concerts as part of the City of St. Augustine's 450th Commemoration, which will culminate in September 2015 when the city celebrates its 450th birthday since its founding in 1565.

Admission: $40 per person.
