Our Feathered Friends Hike & Marsh Walk

Fort Mose State Park offers a free guided birding and marsh hike from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019. "Our Feathered Friends Hike & Marsh Walk" will be led by birding expert Susan Killeen and is free for anyone who would like to participate. The walk will explore the Salt Marsh and the Secondary Fort Site Island (established in 1752) at Fort Mose Historic State Park.

Fort Mose is located along the Atlantic Flyway and boasts several natural environments where birds thrive, including an estuarine tidal marsh, a maritime hammock,  and "Rookery Island," which is home to many nesting species in the spring.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring binoculars, water, rubber boots, and a field guide if they have one. The event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation. Please call (904) 823-2232 to confirm.

Admission: The guided walk is free and open to the public. Entrance to the grounds of Fort Mose is also free, although there's a $2.00 fee to enter the Visitor Center.
