Romanza presents...

Yael ZaZa Flamenca and guitarist Gabriel Hermida perform a program of distinctly American music, arranged with Latin rhythms and Brazilian influences, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., at the First Congregation Sons of Israel, 161 Cordova Street in St. Augustine.

About This Concert

A composer, singer, actress, and musician, Yael "Zaza" Flamenca has roots in France and Israel and has performed worldwide, singing in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, and Hebrew. Her music spreads across many genres, including Gypsy Jazz, French music, Flamenco, Jazz, and Latin. Flamenca earned a Master of Jazz Music at Queens College in New York in 2014.

Now a resident of St. Augustine, Flamenca is a frequent performer at local venues and festivals. To celebrate America's 250th, and the music that has influenced so many, she performs old American classics, such as "Sixteen Tons," and "Tennessee Waltz," playing them with Latin rhythms in arrangements inspired by music from around the world. These "old favorites" are transformed into a lively, cross-cultural concert.

From Argentina, Hermida excels at classical and flamenco guitar, sings, and composes music. He performed with Broadway star and American tap dancer Savion Glover for several years, providing the music that inspired Glover's dancing, which in turn provided the percussion for their performances.
