Saint Augustine Community Orchestra
Please Note: This event is from 2013.
Saint Augustine Community Orchestra will perform a concert titled "Its About Time" at the Lightner Museum.
Enjoy music from Haydn's "Clock Symphony," Beethoven's 8th Symphony, the Second Movement of Tchaikovsky's No. 6 and other classical pieces with a "time" theme. All pieces will be performed under the direction of William McNeiland.
-"Clock Symphony" is ninth of the twelve so-called London Symphonies composed by Joseph Haydn. The piece got its nickname due to the 'ticking' rhythm throughout the second movement. Haydn completed the symphony in the late 1700s.
-Beethoven's 8th Symphony reflects a style much like Haydn, because he was his former mentor! The 8th Symphony is light and humorous, and Critics admired the Eighth for the composer's workmanship.
-The Second Movement of Tchaikovsky's No. 6, nicknamed Path??tique meaning emotional, is Tchaikovsky's final symphony. The piece was nicknamed that due to its passionate nature.
Admission: Tickets are $15 and are available at the door. Children under 12 and Student with ID are FREE. The concert will be held at the Lightner Museum located off King Street and will begin at 8 pm. For more information please visit http://staugustineorchestra.org/
