When three local St. Augustine musicians decided they simply enjoyed playing together and with others, they formed The Stragglers, a three piece band with Mike Elias on mandolin, guitar, and vocals; Jim Quine on guitar and vocals; and Bill Austin on bass. The Stragglers primarily play roots or Americana music, as Mike said, "We don't like to label musical genres but sometimes ya gotta go there." They also don't limit their group to just the core three musicians, and named the band to commemorate how their musician friends frequently "straggle in" and play a few songs with them.
