Cake Cutting & Proclamation
The Cake Cutting & Proclamation Reading is part of the 450th Commemoration in St. Augustine. The event features the cutting of a special cake made to honor the occasion. A proclamation will be read to all those in attendance regarding the commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of St. Augustine, Florida.
The cake cutting will be preceded by live music provided by local bluegrass band, The Driftwoods, beginning at noon. At 2:00 p.m., Mayor Nancy Shaver will read the proclamation and the St. Augustine Royal Family will cut the cake. Several varieties of cake will available for the public.
Entertainment continues at 3:00 p.m., with Mid-Life Crisis performing a variety of pop, rock, disco and country classics. The music continues until 5:00 p.m.
Also included in the afternoon's entertainment is a special presentation of the original song, "A City is Born," performed by the composer Phil Hair.
Those attending the afternoon's activities should bring lounge chairs for seating and are welcome to bring picnic dinners, but alcohol is prohibited.
