Beginning on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and continuing each Wednesday through January 13, 2027, the Lightner Museum offers a guided tour: "Henry Flagler's Hotel."

The Alcazar

Built in 1888, the hotel was Flagler's second resort hotel in St. Augustine. The hotel offered more varied entertainment than Flagler's premier hotel, the Ponce de Leon, suites for wealthy guests, and amenities available to guests of both hotels.

The Tour

The Lightner Museum retained many of the features of the original hotel, including spas, the pool structure, and rooms used for massages, classes, and exercise. Designed by Carrèrre and Hastings, and inspired by European resorts, the hotel featured a courtyard, a grand lobby, modern amenities, and fine cuisine. This guided tour offers a glimpse of what it was like to stay and play at the Hotel Alcazar.
