The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum presents an Artist Talk with Laia Estruch on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Virginia Room of the Ringhaver Student Center at Flagler College. This free event welcomes guests to hear about Estruch's latest work and her thoughts on her stay in St. Augustine.

Laia Estruch, a Barcelona-based artist, explores the voice and the body through her art. Her work is multifaceted and spans various mediums, such as spoken word, song, and sculpture, emphasizing the exploration of emotion in acapella voices and the influence of urban spaces on daily life. She has received prestigious accolades for her contributions to the arts, including the Premis Ciutat de Barcelona and the Premios Cervezas Alhambra de arte emergente.

The artist talk aligns with Estruch's visit to St. Augustine as the Artist-in-Residence for Fall 2023, running from Monday, October 16 to Wednesday, November 4, 2023. During this time, Estruch will engage with the college and St. Augustine community, collaborating with students, staff, and faculty on campus through class visits and special projects. Additionally, she will explore St. Augustine and learn about the city's Spanish history.

In addition to this artist talk, an artist reception for Estruch will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the St. Augustine Waterworks. Find out more about the artist's reception here.
