The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and the St. Johns Cultural Council host an Artist Reception for Laia Estruch on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Waterworks

This free event celebrates the artist's selection as the Fall 2023 Artist-in-Residence at Flagler College. She will serve as Artist-in-Residence and collaborate with students and faculty while immersing herself into St. Augustine's arts and culture from October 16 to November 4, 2023.

Laia Estruch, a Barcelona-based artist, explores the voice and the body through her art. Her work is multifaceted and spans various mediums, such as spoken word, song, and sculpture, emphasizing the exploration of emotion in acapella voices and the influence of urban spaces on daily life. She has received prestigious accolades for her contributions to the arts, including the Premis Ciutat de Barcelona and the Premios Cervezas Alhambra de arte emergente.

In addition to this artist reception, an artist talk by Estruch will be held on Wednesday, October 25 2023 at 6:00 p.m., at the Ringhaver Student Center's Virginia Room at Flagler College. More information on the artist talk is available here

Where: St. Augustine Waterworks at 184 San Marco Avenue.

About the Artist Residency Program: In continuation of St. Augustine's rich history with Spain, the Crisp-Ellert Museum's Artist Residency program bridges art and culture through a partnership with the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain, promoting Spanish culture and nourishing St. Augustine's thriving art scene and the community at large.
