After dark, on select Wednesdays through Sundays, the St. Augustine Lighthouse opens for a special history and ghost tour featuring true stories about the people who lived, visited, and worked at the lighthouse. The tales also include information about those who died on the grounds and the ghostly encounters that continue to this day. This is the only regular tour that welcomes visitors into the lighthouse grounds at night and includes a climb to the top. Along the way, the guide shares the lighthouse's history, and relates true tales of a ghostly presence.
Warning, in addition to being spooky, these tours are popular -- visitors are strongly encouraged to book the tour while trip planning, before arriving in town.
U.S.A. Today readers have voted the St. Augustine Lighthouse as one of the top 10 best haunted destinations in the United States.
