A Liberty Tree Marker Dedication is held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Lakeside Park from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The partners include the City of St. Augustine Beach, Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, Maria Jefferson Chapter, and the Veterans Council of St. Johns County.

The story behind the Liberty Tree goes back to an elm tree set in Boston, Massachusetts. It became a symbol for freedom and a rallying point where colonists gathered to plan an opposition to "taxation without representation." A tree at Lakeside Park will be dedicated as a memorial to those who took part in one of the first acts of defiance against the British government.

Celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary by checking out other events around town.
