On November 22, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Gamble Rogers Concert Series presents Jordan Tice at the Waterworks in St. Augustine.
Jordan Tice
Tice started out playing rock guitar and soon took lessons in both jazz and classical music. His mother, Sue Raines, performed with the Buffalo Gals, an all-women bluegrass group, and he lists progressive bluegrass artists Béla Fleck and Tony Rice as two who influenced him. He focused on the instrument and composition, and his first three albums consisted only of instrumental music. He is proficient in both finger picking and flat picking, and performed as a sideman for many diverse acts, including Steve Martin (with the Steep Canyon Rangers), David Rawlings, Tony Trischka, and Yola.
Most recently, Tice has added lyrics to his compositions, and his original music is lauded for instrumentation, breadth of form, and lyrics with candor and wit, presented in a casual vocal style. He has performed at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and in the Ryman Auditorium, and has received praise from NPR Music and American Songwriter.
Tice is a musician's musician. After spending his youth listening to his parents play bluegrass (his mom on the fiddle and his dad on banjo), he was determined to find his own musical path, far from bluegrass and folk. Tice studied jazz and classical guitar and eventually found his way back to bluegrass—his way. He had always liked the instrumental part of bluegrass and formed the band Hawktail with like-minded musicians who love this wholly American genre, and can't help but add in jazz and classical elements. Tice is a well-known and welcome addition to various bands, stage performances, and albums.
Fiddler and vocalist Paul Kowert (who plays in Hawktail and Punchbrothers) performs on stage with Tice at the November Gamble Rogers Concert. (M'Gonigle performs with Tice in the video "Bad Little Idea.")
Opening Act
Born and raised in St. Augustine, singer and songwriter Eowyn Sage first shared her voice publicly as a lead in several musicals. Still in high school, Sage perfects her skills, writes songs, and finds time to perform at local, youth-friendly venues.
The Gamble Rogers Concert Series
The Gamble Rogers Folk Festival has partnered with the St. Johns Cultural Council to present a monthly series of Saturday concerts at the Waterworks, from October 18, 2025, through June 20, 2026. These concerts celebrate St. Augustine's Gamble Rogers—songwriter, storyteller, guitarist, and recording artist—who taught, befriended, and performed with many of the performers on the schedule. Each concert includes two acts: a YoungFolk performer who opens the show, followed by a musician with national or international acclaim.

The Waterworks
Built in 1898, the St. Augustine Waterworks is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city moved this waterworks facility to a new location after significant population growth. For a time, the building served as a community center and theater, and was later left unused. Now fully renovated again, this facility is accessible, has free parking, and yet retains its historic architectural properties and charm.
