The St. Augustine Lighthouse hosts their annual Sea Your History Weekend event. These events feature Smithsonian scholars, special tours, wooden boat building demonstrations and unique experiences that connect visitors with the maritime history of the Nation's Oldest Port, St. Augustine.

Each of the Sea Your History Weekend events will celebrate a different influence on St. Augustine's maritime culture from the early European settlers to the contributions of African-American and Native American groups.

February 22 - 23 - Historic Coast Influences: African-American Maritime Culture and Their Impact on St. Augustine Culture & History.

Saturday, February 22, 2014-  There will be a guided Twilight Tour of the lighthouse that will come at an additional cost of $14.95 per person and reservations are required for these tours, (tours are not included in the general admission price).

6:00 P.M. - The Science of Light. Learn about how a lighthouse works and the science of light with museum educator, Paul Zielinski. See how the intricate and scientific work of Augustin Fresnel changed the way mariners navigated and how his contributions are used to this day.

6:45 P.M. - When the Lights Go Out.  Hear stories of those that lived and worked here at the lighthouse. Learn about the spectral side of our lighthouse grounds and hear the stories that will make you wonder just what does happen at the lighthouse by the Dark of the Moon.

Visitors can assist in building a traditional wooden boat. Archeologists will be on hand from the Lighthouse Archeological Maritime Program (LAMP) will be on hand to discuss the search for the Jefferson Davis ship and the importance of African-American's influence on the growth of the shrimping and boat-building history of St. Augustine. Real Radio 104.1 will also be live on site with host Jack Bradshaw from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon! Sunday's activities are included in the price of general admission to the Lighthouse. 

Admission: Event is included in the general cost of admission to the Lighthouse; besides the Twilight Tour on Saturday.
