"It was a dark and stormy night" is the classic introduction to a scary story, often told around the campfire or in a dimly lit room. On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Tale Tellers of St. Augustine present their annual version of "Dark and Stormy Night," with all-new eerie tales, in the safety of Limelight Theatre.

Tale Tellers of St. Augustine are passionate about storytelling and weave stories sure to surprise you. This year, Kathy Duffy, David Fussell, Margaret Kaler, Chris Kastle, Kathy Kniery, and Julie Sandoval share tales that threaten to curl your toes and straighten your hair. Each Tale Teller has their own special flair, so you'll hear folktales, country stories, ocean yarns, history stories with a twist, and scary tales with a bit of humor.
