Villa Zorayda Celebrates St. Augustine's 450th
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5 and 6, 2015, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at Villa Zorayda Museum
Please Note: This event is from 2015.
Villa Zorayda is having a party for St. Augustine’s 450th, and they are inviting everyone to join in the festivities at the Villa Zorayda Museum on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 2015.
The Villa Zorayda presents their 450th celebration event featuring music, art, and cupcakes. The event will start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. each day.
The exotic Villa Zorayda Museum is an architectural masterpiece built by Franklin Smith in 1883. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this grand Gilded Age home is built 1/10th the scale of a portion of the Moorish castle, the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain.
Steven Dean Anderson will exhibit his artwork—including many of the city’s famous historical landmarks—at the museum. Poet Lance Carden will also be in attendance with a book signing of his new poetry collection “City of Lions: A Poet’s Guide.”
Musical guests for the museum’s celebration event will include returning performer Dennis Fermin. Fermin’s rich Spanish heritage and sultry guitar sounds are sure to evoke the spirit of the 450th. Joining Fermin is the Blue Lotus Bellydance group. The Blue Lotus Bellydancers have performed at numerous events and festivals and are returning to the city’s most extravagant museum. There will also be a drawing for four tickets to one of Vila Zorayda's popular Candlelight Tours that take place every year during St. Augustine's Nights of Lights celebration during the holidays.
The Hot Shot Bakery will have a booth set up on the museum's lawn to sell their signature lemonade and cupcakes to the general public. Museum guests will receive free cupcakes.
Admission: Tickets include state-of-the-art audio guided tour available in English, Spanish and French. Special discounted admission for this event is $7 for adults and $4 for children, with a special two-for-one offer for children's tickets only (i.e., $4 for two children ages 7 - 12). Children 6 and under are free. Admission to this event includes free cupcakes.
When? The event will take place on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 2015. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and end at 7:00 p.m.
