Creative Voices from Across Florida
The BART on Aviles showcases a rotating collection of contemporary works by Florida artists, across various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media art. From bold color fields to textured abstracts and experimental materials, the gallery maintains a strong sense of variety.
Co-founded by artist and collector Philip Castillo and culinary professional Dee Mahler-Castillo, the space is thoughtfully curated to be welcoming and unpretentious. Exhibits change regularly, so each visit brings something new. The gallery's setting encourages you to move slowly, engage with the work, and take in the creative atmosphere without the stiffness of a traditional gallery.
Art That Pairs Well
True to its dual nature, The BART on Aviles also operates as a wine bar, offering a selection of drinks that complement the gallery. Visitors choose from wine flights, dry and sweet reds and whites, ports, dessert wines, and sparkling options like Prosecco and rosé, seasonal sangrias, and specialty mimosas featuring flavors like grapefruit, lavender, rose, and violet.
Beyond wine, the bar also serves domestic and imported beers, cider, and their signature Renoagade (adult) lemonade. Specials often feature unique offerings from the owners’ reserve, along with occasional clearance wine selections.

On the first Friday of each month, many of St. Augustine’s galleries stay open late for the First Friday Art Walk — a monthly celebration of local art and creativity. It’s a great way to discover new artists, enjoy live music, and experience the energy of the Oldest City’s creative scene. Whether you live in St. Augustine or are just visiting, our Art Walk offers a relaxed and fun way to take in, or take home, local art.
