Apex Theatre Studio - "Newsies Jr."

The Apex Theatre Studio presents Newsies, Jr., the children's version of the hit Broadway play, Newsies, from Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25, 2023. The Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, 14 Granada Street, hosts the performance. The only evening performance will be on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 a.m. On Friday, June 23, there will be a children's performance at 11:00 a.m. On Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, the performances will be at 2:00 p.m.

This shorter and kid-friendly version of the 2012 Broadway production is based on real events from the turn of the 20th century, and relates the tale of newsboys mounting a strike against newspaper publishers who had increased their prices in a way that reduced income for the newsboys. The cast features teachers, guest artists, and students from both divisions of Apex Theatre Studio. This 70-minute production is suitable for all ages and includes with some of the hit songs from the original, including "Carrying the Banner," and Seize the Day."

Apex Theatre Studio is a nonprofit theater education center where students ages 14 to 21 hone their craft as artists.

Admission: $15.00 for the 11:00 a.m. matinee performance on June 23. $22.00 per person for general admission seating for all other performances. For tickets and more information, go here.
