The Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy presents two differing views of the expanding power of the presidency on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. David Lightman, Chief Congressional Correspondent for the McClatchy Washington Bureau, and Anita Kuman, Head of Standards & Practices for Politico, each share their views on the topic.
The discussion takes place in the Virginia Room at the Flagler Student Center at 50 Sevilla Street, and is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
David Lightman has been a writer, editor, and educator for more than 50 years. During his career, he has worked as a White House correspondent and a political correspondent. Lightman is currently the Chief Congressional Correspondent for the McClatchy Washington Bureau, providing news and analysis to McClatchy publications in 30 U.S. markets.
Anita Kuman, of POLITICO, served as that organization's senior managing editor in North America, overseeing key reporting teams who covered the White House, Congress, politics, defense, and national security. In her current role, she works to "uphold our editorial values in a highly polarized age."
Flagler College's Forum on Government and Public Policy brings nationally recognized journalists, commentators, and speakers to St. Augustine to discuss issues in regional, state, and federal government. For more than 30 years, the forum has hosted intellectual talks focused on government and public policy.
