The Whitney Laboratory of Marine Bioscience presents, "What Glows Below: Bioluminescence and Fluorescence of Deep-Sea Organisms," on October 9, 2014, as part of the Evenings at Whitney Lecture series.
Dr. Steven Haddock, Chief Scientist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, will talk about the phosphorescent and fluorescent abilities of the unique life forms that live in the deep sea. Dr. Haddock's deep-sea research expeditions have uncovered much new information about the incredible diversity of creatures that make use of bioluminescence to survive in the harsh deep-sea environment.
