Halloween Costume Contest
Sunday, October 28, 2018, 2 – 5 p.m. at Love Tree Cottage
Ancient City Tours hosts their annual free Halloween Costume Contest at the Love Tree Cottage on Sunday, October 28, 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. After the contest, families are welcome to join in the trick-or-treating at participating shops on St. George Street.
The costume contest is divided into age groups: Infant-Toddler (ages 0-4), Child (ages 5-12), Teen (ages 13-16), Adult (ages 16 and over), and Family. The contest judging begins with the youngest group at 2:00 p.m, and prizes are awarded.
After each category is judged, the kids and their families are free to go trick-or-treating down St. George Street and the historic district, where many of the shops have treats on hand for the kids. This is the 13th annual Halloween Costume Contest and Merchant Trick-or-Treating, and is a very popular Halloween event in downtown St. Augustine.
The numerous downtown merchants who participate in trick-or-treating include the Panama Hat Company, the Peter O'Neil Gallery, Sunburst Crystal, the Black Parrot Candy Shop, Tedi's Ice Cream, the Bunnery, the St. George Tavern, the Taco Shop, Spanish Dutch Convoy, the Oldest Wooden School House, and many more. When: The Halloween Costume Contest will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018, followed by trick-or-treating.
Where: The Costume Contest is held at the Love Tree Cottage at 6 Cordova St. The shops that welcome kids for trick-or-treating are nearby in the historic district, mostly on St. George Street. Participating shops are marked with stickers showing orange and black candy on their doors.
