The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall presents Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates in a live concert with The Good Road Band on Sunday, November 24, 2019.

John Oates is well known for being one-half of the best-selling rock duo of all time, Hall & Oates, but he is also an accomplished solo artist. A member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Oates started singing about the same time he started talking, and has been playing the guitar since the age of 5.

Born in New York City, Oates moved to Philadelphia with his family in the early 1950s. He was influenced by the early folk scene, Delta blues, ragtime guitar styles, and bluegrass, while also embracing R&B legends like Otis Redding, The Temptations, Curtis Mayfield, Sam and Dave, and Smokey Robinson and the Miracle. John Oates met Daryl Hall while attending Temple University in Philadelphia, and the rest was history. Over their spectacular career, Daryl Hall & John Oates recorded 21 albums which have sold over 80 million units, making them the most successful rock duo in music history.

Now, Oates has teamed up with with The Good Road Band to create his sixth solo album, Arkansas. The project focused first on the music of Mississippi John Hurt, but went on to encompass other artists and styles from popular music in America in the 1920s and 1930s. John describes the sound: "It's like Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass, and salted with Delta blues." The album made Rolling Stone's 30 Most Anticipated Country Albums and Tours list for 2018.
