Whitney Lab 5K

The University of Florida's Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience presents the Whitney Lab 5K on Sunday, April 19, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the River to Sea Preserve Trails.

Run or walk through the Matanzas Hammock Loop trail, completing three laps. The event also features a kids' fun run after the main race, on approximately 0.4 miles of the Scrub Loop. There are awards for Top Overall Male and Female, and the top three finishers in each of the eight age groups.

Beneficiary

The Whitney Lab at the University of Florida is dedicated to conducting biological research. Its focus is on educating and training the next generation of biologists. The proceeds from this race help fund Whitney Lab's community lectures, educational initiatives, facility improvements, public events, and critical student experiences at the lab.

Event Details

Registration: $35.00 through February 28, $40.00 through March 31, and $45.00 through the day of the race. Participate in a virtual race for $45.00.

Packet Pickup: Race day pickup is on Sunday, the day of the race, beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the River to the Sea Preserve, 9805 Ocean Shore Boulevard, St. Augustine, Florida 32080.

Parking: Parking is limited, and carpooling is encouraged. The free parking is available at several locations:

• Near the finish line
• River to Sea Preserve parking near the beach
• The DEP Marineland Field Station
• The public parking area at Whitney Laboratory (about a half-mile from the starting line)
