Palimony

Palimony has been gaining statewide attention with their "slower and sadder" style.

Palimony — seven talented musicians and songwriters influenced by country favorites and alternative rock powerhouses (think Dolly Parton and Wilco) — perform their own songs and covers in a genre that may be new to some listeners: psychedelic country.

Led by Lexi Braun and Jacob Adams, Palimony released a self-titled album in 2019. The excellent musicians in the band also include Mark Archer, Jacquelyn T. Leeper, Chelsea Carnes, Sam Moss, and Brian Lee.

Named for the Scottish Gaelic word for "Scottish," the band Albannach was formed in 2005 in Glasgow.

Led by bass drummer and vocalist, Jamesie Johnston, Albannach's five-piece band marches to not one drummer but to three: Jamesie on bass drum, Nick Watson, as lead drummer on a small set of drums, and Jacquie Holland, bass rhythm drummer. With Donnie MacNeil on the bag pipes, DigeriDrew Reid on the digeridoo, and Jacquie and Jamesie singing both haunting and fierce melodies, this band performs Celtic classics and new material to celebrate Scotland and her people.

Mama Blue

Mama Blue sings her songs and our songs.

Mama Blue — a diminutive woman with a big voice and a bigger heart — sings. She sings jazz and she sings the blues. She sings the classics like "Georgia," she sings songs from artists who inspired her (such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Alica Keys), and she sings her own beautiful compositions.

Mama blue sings about life — her life. In singing about her life she sings about the lives of many of us.

Lee Michael Howard

A musician's musician, Lee Michael Howard plays covers and his own songs.

In a music town like St. Augustine, some of the best musicians are more well-known to other musicians than they are to the public.

Lee Michael Howard is the kind of musician others love to jam with and that audiences enjoy to listen to. He's the musician with the good stories, one or more albums of original material, and the ability to put together a set of covers that make each song sound as if he wrote it.

Why St. Augustine Has More Holiday Spirit Than You'd Think

Why We Have So Much Holiday Spirit

Why St. Augustine is the best town to visit for the holidays.

"My town is better than your town at celebrating the holidays." When I first moved to St. Augustine, I would have found such a statement dubious. I came to the nation's oldest city in Florida to escape the snow and ostensibly all of the things I associated with it. Christmas carols were the last thing I wanted to hear while shoveling my car out of the driveway, but where I'm from hypothermia and holiday spirit go hand in hand.
