Affectionately known as the "Little Folksinger," Ani DiFranco has been a successful singer, songwriter, activist, and independent entrepreneur for over twenty years. DiFranco balances acoustic sounds with jazz, soul, and electronica vibes. In the 1990s, she created her own record label, Righteous Babe Records, which has released more than twenty of her albums. Her album To The Teeth (1999) featured Prince and saxophonist Maceo Parker. Recently, she received an honorary doctorate from the University of Winnipeg and won the Artistic Achievement Award from the Winnipeg Folk Festival.

Her most current release, Allergic to Water, fuses abstract imagery to jazz, soul, and electronica sounds. Allergic to Water was also influenced by her experiences as a mother in New Orleans.
