Fort Mose State Park will offer a free Guided Bird Walk from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023. The two-hour walk will be led by a park volunteer and and knowledgable birder, and the event is free for anyone who would like to participate.

Fort Mose is located along the Atlantic Flyway and boasts several natural environments where birds thrive, including an estuarine tidal marsh, a maritime hammock and "Rookery Island," which is home to many nesting species in the spring. Guests can expect to see herons, egrets, wood storks, hawks, woodpeckers and owls.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes and a field guide, if they have one.

Admission: The guided bird walk is free and open to the public. Entrance to the grounds of Fort Mose is also free, although there is a $2 fee to enter the Visitor Center.

When: 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Sunday, Janurary 22, 2023.
