Black Box Session with Ben Sollee

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Limelight Theatre present a Black Box Session concert featuring Ben Sollee in two performances on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 6:30 and 9:00 p.m.

Sollee has played the cello since fourth grade and studied the instrument in college. He is a singer, songwriter, and composer who has toured extensively, been lauded for his songwriting skills, and served as an instructor at several string instrument education programs. Much of his original music successfully blends the music of his youth with classical, pop, and jazz elements to create a genre-bending sound all his own. He has said that his overall theme is "togetherness," and that he uses his music to bring people together and strengthen their ties to the environment.

The Black Box Session concert series presents nationally recognized musicians in a small venue. Located in the same building as Limelight's main stage, the Matuza Black Box Theater seats nearly 100 people in a cabaret-style arrangement. Founded in 1992, the Limelight Theatre is a year-round community theater that presents nine productions on its main stage each year. In addition, they offer arts education programs and collaborate with the St. Augustine Film Festival and the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The Matuza Blackbox Theatre offers Limelight the chance to produce intimate, experimental, and contemporary performances. The small theater was named the Matuza Blackbox Theatre in 2024 in honor of Linda and Ray Matuza, long-time supporters and benefactors of the Limelight Theatre.

When:  Tuesday, October 21, 2025. There are two concerts, one at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00 p.m., and the other starting at 9:00 p.m., with doors opening at 8:30 p.m.
