In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Castillo de San Marcos hosts "Taking the Plunge," a special Candlelight Tour, on Friday, October 18, 2019. This tour takes visitors through the Castillo while reenacting the story of a young man during the First Spanish Period (1565 - 1763) who decides to "take the plunge" and enlist in the Spanish military. The tour depicts his adventures within the Castillo, as he fights to defend St. Augustine. 

The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is the oldest stone fortification in the United States. Their candlelight tours allow visitors to take in the special beauty of the Castillo at night.

Admission: Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5 to 15, and free for children under 5. Tickets are limited and may sell out, so advance registration is recommended. Tickets will become available after October 4, 2019, at the Castillo ticket booth or by calling (904) 829-6506, ext. 239.

When: Friday, October 18, 2019, with tours at 6:15, 7:15, and 8:15 p.m.
