Castillo by Candlelight: Your Natrional Parks

In honor of National Park Week, the Castillo de San Marcos will host a special free candlelight tour program, "Your National Parks," on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:45 p.m.

The theme of this year's National Park Week is "Park Stars," and this Castillo by Candlelight program will focus on the stars above as well as on the superstar volunteers, park features, and resources.

This is an open-house-style program, where guests may reserve free tickets for a specific entry time: 6:15, 6:45, 7:15, 7:45, or 8:15 p.m. Participants may then stay inside the Castillo as long as they like until the event ends at 8:45 p.m.

About the Castillo: The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. It is a large Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain's claims in the New World. It's a National Monument and, at over 315 years old, it's the oldest structure in the entire city. Visitors will find plenty to explore, from the numerous rooms that once housed soldiers and prisoners of every era to the large interior courtyard and gun deck which offers a great view of the city.

Admission: FREE. Space is limited, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets may be reserved in advance, starting two weeks prior to the event, at the Castillo de San Marcos ticket booth or by phone at (904) 829-6506 ext. 233.
